Yesterday’s MLB Recap
Yesterday the system had a good bounce back performance when you look at the entire slate of games which was great to see. However, 3-star plays finished the night 1-2 overall which was quite the disappointment.
Everything was going smoothly for Boston until the bottom of the 6th inning when they blew a 2-0 lead, which ended up being the nail in the coffin because the Sox wouldn’t score another run for the remainder of the game. In addition, even though I said to use some caution on it, the over in the Rangers/Angels game was a 3-star play but they came up a little bit short and scored a total of 7 runs after combining for 6 in the first 2 innings. Luckily for us the Giants showed up to play and beat the Diamondbacks by a score of 6-4, covering their run line in the process.
Yesterday’s MLB chart is attached below.
Today we have a big slate of games on our hands that should be rather exciting. Unfortunately I don’t have a ton of time on my hands today so the analysis is going to be a little bit shorter, but I hope it is still helpful.
MLB Predictions
Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles
Even though this bet led to some disappointment last night I think it worth revisiting today.
Boston is still 6-1 in their last 7 matchups against the Orioles and they have covered the run line in all 6 wins. There is no question that they are the better team all around and I think last night’s blown lead was just a fluke.
Zac Lowther (1-2 record, 7.66 ERA) is set to start for Baltimore and he has had no success against Boston this season. Lowther has pitched a total of 6 innings vs the Sox so far and has been lit up, giving up 12 total hits and surrendering 10 runs. His most recent start was a success against a bad Rangers team, but prior to that he gave up 10 total runs in 5.1 combined innings against the Red Sox and Blue Jays and I think we continue to see him to get bullied. Nathan Eovaldi (10-9 record, 3.88 ERA) will start for Boston and although he struggled in his last start against the Yankees, he has done well against Baltimore and should be able to hold his ground.
Back Boston on the run line again tonight and take the over if you want to bet the total, which hit in both Eovaldi and Lowther’s last start when the Orioles and Red Sox squared off.
System Predicts- Red Sox -1.5, OVER 9.5
New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays
We have an awesome battle on the mound tonight and as a result we should see a low scoring game.
Gerrit Cole (16-8 record, 3.08 ERA) and Jose Berrios (12-9 record, 3.48 ERA) will start for their respective teams tonight and should be wheeling and dealing all night. Cole has pitched a total of 17.2 innings against Toronto this season and has given up just 5 runs in that span. Cole also ranks 6th in the MLB in xERA (expected ERA) with an xERA of 2.44, meaning that his actual ERA is a little misleading and we should start seeing Cole have some great performances down the stretch.
Berrios hasn’t pitched against the Yankees this season but he has been a great addition for Toronto since they acquired him from the Twins at the deadline. The system says that the Blue Jays are the play at home tonight but my gut tells me the Yankees come out on top. However, the under looks to be in a great spot in this one and I would take a swing on it.
System Predicts- Blue Jays ML, UNDER 8.5
San Diego Padres @ LA Dodgers
Max Scherzer is on the mound tonight and that’s all anyone really needs to know.
Prior to his last start against the Rockies Scherzer went 36.2 innings without giving up an earned run and that trend has been true against this Padres team as well. Since being acquired from Washington, Scherzer has pitched 22.2 innings against San Diego and has given up 4 runs, but has not surrendered a run against them in his last two starts and last 15.2 innings.
This game ended 2-1 last night and I think we see LA win by a score of 4-1 today.
System Predicts- Dodgers -1.5, UNDER 8
MLB Parlay
Daily Parlay- Yankees/Blue Jays UNDER, Red Sox -1.5
ODDS: +207
