Yesterday’s MLB Recap
Like I said yesterday I wasn’t very confident in any of the MLB predictions and I feel that the smaller slate of games really didn’t provide much value, and for the most part that is how last night turned out. When the night ended the system finished with a record of 8-12 and took a loss to start the week.
Last night was the first night there were no 3-star plays as nothing really sat right with me. However, we have a bigger slate today with a few 3-star plays that I like.
Yesterday’s MLB chart is attached below.
Yesterday’s NFL Recap
Last night was a clean sweep in the NFL. The Packers ended up covering the 12 point spread after a shaky start and points were being put on the board from just about everywhere.
Detroit got off to a great start and set the tone early, putting the Packers in jeopardy of covering the spread after going up 17-14 at halftime. However, the Lions didn’t score a single point the rest of the way and Green Bay was able to break away rather easily in the second half, winning the game 35-17.
Player props were also a clean sweep last night as they went 2-0 in addition to the spread and over/under prediction. TJ Hockenson was once again Jared Goff’s favorite target and finished the night with 8 receptions for the second week in a row, and Davante Adams ended the night with 8 receptions to go along with 121 yards.
Overall it was a great night and made up for some of the losses suffered on Sunday. Yesterday’s NFL chart is attached below.
Today we only have the MLB but there is a large slate of games on deck that I like a whole lot better than yesterday. Let’s see what today’s predictions are.
MLB Predictions
Kansas City Royals @ Cleveland Indians
The Royals travel to Cleveland today for an AL Central battle and I think they lose this game outright.
Yesterday the Royals and Indians faced off in a double header and things did not go well for Cleveland. Kansas City was able to get runners on with ease and then convert those guys into runs, winning game 1 by a score of 7-2 and game 2 by a score of 4-2. However, the MLB is a league where everything is constantly changing and I don’t expect Kansas City to have another easy game today.
Cal Quantrill (6-3 record, 2.89 ERA) has silently been one of the best pitchers in the league this year and has been able to keep the Indians from slipping way under the .500 mark. Quantrill is one of the few pitchers in this league who can consistently give his team 6 solid innings in almost every start, which he has done in 11 of his last 13 starts dating back to July 10th. He has not pitched much against Kansas City this season, but in his last start against the Royals Quantrill pitched 6 innings and gave up 3 runs in what turned out to be a 14-6 win for Cleveland, and he has only given up 1 run and 6 hits in his last 14.1 innings.
Daniel Lynch (4-5 record, 5.34 ERA) will start for the Royals and he has struggled as a starter. This season Lynch has only pitched a total of 59 innings and in his last 2 starts he has given up 12 hits and 10 runs in just 8.2 innings.
The Indians are the better team in almost every aspect of the game , are 38-28 against AL Central opponents while Kansas City is 31-34, and they have a better record at home than the Royals do on the road. I expect Quantrill to dominate in this one and keep this thing low scoring, so take the Cleveland money line and the under.
System Predicts- Indians ML, UNDER 9.5
New York Mets @ Boston Red Sox
Any confidence that I had in the Mets faded away with their playoff hopes months ago, and even though they have Marcus Stroman on the mound today I don’t see a scenario in which they win this game.
Simply put, the Mets are not a good baseball team and I think the Red Sox money line should be closer to -180. New York is 3-7 in their last 10 games and has a road record of 29-44 this season, both of which are major red flags. Another red flag is that this Mets team can’t hit the baseball, and no team is going win games by only putting up 2 or 3 runs per game. New York ranks 3rd to last in the MLB in runs scored per game (3.9), is ranked 26th in hits and 19th in batting average. New York will also have to face Eduardo Rodriquez (11-8 record, 5.00 ERA) who has been shaky in some starts, but he has given up 3 earned runs or less in 3 of his last 4 starts and he has gone at least 6 innings in all 3 of those games, which came against the Rays, Mariners, and Indians.
Marcus Stroman (9-12 record, 2.88 ERA) is on the mound for the Mets like I mentioned earlier but even if he pitches well, the Mets offense simply is not good enough to provide enough support to get and maintain a lead against one of the best teams in baseball. Take the Sox on the money line at home and the under in this game, as I agree with the system that this stays low scoring and we see a final score somewhere around 6-2 in favor of Boston.
System Predicts- Red Sox ML, UNDER 9.5
LA Dodgers @ Colorado Rockies
The Rockies play good baseball at home as they surprisingly have a home record of 44-31, but in general they are a bad team and having to face the Dodgers is close to a worst case scenario.
So far this season the Dodgers have played the Rockies a total of 12 times and have won 8 of those games, covering the run line in 6 of their 8 wins. Overall it has been a one sided season series and I expect that trend to continue today, especially since the battle on the mound favors LA. Julio Urias (18-3 record, 2.99 ERA) is set to start for the Dodgers and the guy has been a machine all season. He hasn’t allowed more than 2 earned runs in a start since July 16th, which happened to be against the Rockies, but that game ended with a final score of 10-4 in favor of the Dodgers. Antonio Senzatela (4-9 record, 4.06 ERA) will start for Colorado and he has pitched very well recently too, making me agree with the system that this score is going to stay rather low.
Senzatela and Urias make for a great pitching matchup and I don’t see this run total reaching double digits, let alone getting above 11 runs. Colorado has stolen some games from the Dodgers this year, but they simply aren’t good enough to do it on a consistent basis and I agree with the system that the Dodgers cover the run line.
System Predicts- Dodgers -1.5, UNDER 11
MLB Parlay
Daily Parlay- Red Sox ML, Dodgers -1.5
ODDS: +193
Conclusion
That is a wrap for today folks. Yesterday was a great day in the NFL and I think the MLB System will turn things around and have a nice night tonight.
Let’s win some more money today!
